Genre: An experimental film Director: Ye. Golovnya
Duration: 39 minutes
The film is made after Leonid Andreyev’s work of the same title, dated 1904.
It is about how the City advances on everything that breathes, killing love in the first place. The City, as described by Leonid Andreyev one hundred years ago, is not much different from a modern megapolis: hurrying people, roaring vehicles, endless stores, standard and expressionless faces, lack of sunshine and love.
The documentary aspect of this project only underlines its present-day importance. Insert scenes (depiction of love or display of city characters) only provide the contrast to various stages of the civilization advance.
